KEY STEPS— Assemble the edit into a single track or the minimum number of tracks possible.
— Simplify all Nest or Compound clips back to sources. Footages composed of layers should be added to the end of the timeline.
— Remove retimes / animations / multiscreens.
Or keep the retimes if the edit is finally approved. — Exclude files that don't require color grading: sound, titles, plates, etc.
— Replace Proxy files with the original sources.
— Remove all color corrections or LUTs, and ensure that the material is in the required color space:
- For RED sources in R3D, use IPP2 / REDWideGamutRGB / Log3g10 settings.
- For BRAW sources, use Blackmagic Design Wide Gamut Gen 4-5 / Blackmagic Film Gen 5.
— Export the file in the required resolution in QT MOV ProRes 4444 or DNxHD (HR) 444.
— Discuss alternative formats with the colorist if needed.
— Export a preview in MP4 H264, 1920×1080.
— Export an EDL for each of the sequences.
